Had both and think it depends on the bike and color. The king has black and really sets the white off and the chrome. I am probably more partial to the black.
I am torn between an EG Standard,EG Classic and Road King Standard. I had a silver powder coat engine on my Softail Standard and was never a big fan of it. The only thing stopping me from the EG Standard is the silver engine. Is everyone happy with their silver engines and how do you keep them clean? Thanks
The black engine looks better without a doubt, which is also why it costs more then the silver engine.
The silver has really grown on me and I do get lots of compliments from my friends with the black cylinders on their RKs. I ~might~ go all black with polished fin edges down the road when the engine comes apart for some tweaks, but until then I am enjoying the bright polish on the fire red pearl paint!
I definitely wouldn't let the silver engine keep you from buying an EGS and using the saved $$$$ on extra parts.....
I've had both. I currently have an 05 Ultra and wish it had the silver motor. No matter what you do the black fades. I've also had problems with it chipping on my 97 Shriner bike.
