Default Silver or Black engine

I am torn between an EG Standard,EG Classic and Road King Standard. I had a silver powder coat engine on my Softail Standard and was never a big fan of it. The only thing stopping me from the EG Standard is the silver engine. Is everyone happy with their silver engines and how do you keep them clean? Thanks

Mine's silver, and I just wash it most of the time. Brake cleaner once in a while on any road tar etc. Personally I like the black better.

I think it depends on the bike and the paint on that bike. I like the black on my Fatboy but think the silver looks good on my Road Glide with the silver stripe on Black Cherry.

When I went to purchase my '06 RG I inquired about getting a black engine as an option. The answer was a resounding NO. So I went with what I thought was the best color to tie in with the silver engine, black pearl. Having put 4200 miles on the RG so far, I can tell you that is is much easier to maintain than the black, and I have both. I've done some slight clean-up here and there with a soapy brush, no bucket/hose wash in 4200mi.

I have silver on my EG and find it stays cleaner ( or at least lookscleaner longer) The black does look great, but it takes more cleaning to stay that way.

Personally, I like the black engines. The silver ones remind me of the engines in the standard models from years past like the Softtail Standard which also had polished not chrome parts on it. It all boils down to personal preference and whether or not you're willing to settle for silver just to get the bike you want .. like the later model Road Glides. Regarding keeping it clean .. a little "Pig Spit" sprayed on the black makes it look like new. Just my two cents!!
