Rear Tire Help
I have a brand new set of blackwalls that was given to me in a trade, but I don't want to swap out both tires right now. I would rather ride out the front until it is dead, most likely it will last another rear tire's life.
Does anyone have a narrow whitewall, MU85B16 77H, 140 rear tire that they don't need? Like a take-off, or anything with good tread left?
Email me with what you have.
Thanks,
Steve

I'll keep an eye out, and I'm going to call my local dealer to see what a new rear tire will cost.

I bought a rear NWW from Donelson recently for $113 including shipping, then mounted it and a front I already had using a Harbor Freight tire changer with motorcycle adapter. Balance was done with a simple but effective unit bought at www.marcparnes.com. Both work great, although the HF device needs a few mods, like the additional purchase of rim protectors (3 protectors needed, 2 in kit) from Dennis Kirk (http://*******.com/e9bh2) and tire-mount lubricant you can find locally. This is a popular tire-mount alternative and there are a number of on-line tutorials for using it. It helps to have someone with tire-mounting experience present the first time to help with the initial kinks in the procedure, and there will be some.
If you put a lot of miles on your bike, DIY and buying tires on-line will save you a bundle in the long run. I bought into it with a friend, but you could let more than two in the consortium, or charge your friends $20 to mount their tires and make money with it. Personally, I'd rather not wrestle with a tire and wheel for a mere $20, but some might find it a pleasing adventure. It could also be said that it would be good practice.

IMHO. I took pic on my cell not good quality but need to load the software to dwnload to post here. Good luck with the tire be careful...................MyRide7
Go to the auto parts store and buy a can of Tire Black and paint the skinny whitewall! It would be hardly noticeable and for 2000 miles, who cares? I get better than 25K miles on my front tires! It is almost a 3:1 ratio of rear to front wear........especially with this new Dunlop compound on the bagger OEM tires.
