180 Watts total in five Flo fixtures. I went one step further and painted the floor with a White high solids Epoxy. With white walls and the floor I get even light all around. I can also spot an oil drip immediately and it helps when you drop a 'C' clip and the like.

In many garages the light fixtures are in the center of the ceiling. At my previous house I mounted them at the ends and along the sides. No shadows and lots of light when working.

I ran four pieces of electrical conduit off of my existing light bulb wiring using a handy box. I then put one 4 foot (two bulb) flourescent fixtures at the end of each. I ended up with plenty of light for a 17' x 19' garage. Cost was about $100.00 including the conduit bender. Best move I ever made. There are no shadows to deal with also.

I have (12) 8 foot HighOutput florescents in my 40x48 shop and they are well worth the investment.

I second the T-5 flourescent bulbs. They are considerably better than the T-12's. They are almost instant on and work great even in the cold.

I am an electrical contractor. I would recommend T8 florescent fixtures, either 4' 2 lamp or 8' with 4-4' lamps.
