Is it me or does the stock Roadglide windshield "SUCK"? I have had to replace my gromits on it because they come out, every 1,500 miles or so.This must be HD biggest design flaw ever.Does anyone have a cure for this most dissapointing function on my beloved "ROADGLIDE"? Thanks for your input.
True, the stock RG shield sucks.
Use the search funtion here for..... Roadglide Windshields......
You will find out that there is alot to learn.
The RG in my opinion is the best bike out there....with the right windshield.

I have not had the the well nuts screws or as you put it "gromits come out"
Everything stayed together with the stock shield on my bike. My problem was that the windshield did not fit me.
The Road Glide is the only bike I have ever owned where the windshield has to be just right for the rider. Most other bikes the stock windshield was good enough. Not with the RG there is no one size fits all.
Once you get the right shield on your bike you will be a happy camper. It's just a Road Glide thing.
Just got an 07 RG and I have not seen the loose grommets but as said I don't like the shield. I've had Clearview shields with the Eurolip on 2 of my bikes but I've seen the Klockwerks shield and it is cooler looking on a RG but pricier.
I had the same issue with my stock windshield on my '04 RG. Well nuts kept wiggling their way out, I found when I went to my Clearview they supplied new well nuts and they simply haven't moved in 5k miles of riding.
I'm 6'1" and stocker was was way too short. All kinds of head buffeting.

...... the stock shield certainly wasn't ideal for me, so i changed it out for a taller HD screen. Never had an issue w/the attachment system coming apart though.
Always keep extra well nuts on hand. Im still searching for an alternative supplier. Seems mine get distorted from over tightening, then fall through. There are a bunch of options for rg shields. Research the threads and try the classifieds here. Ive ended up with 4 different.
12" klockwerks is my fav so far.
My newly purchased 07 RG I'm still getting to know and finally rode a little in NC Saturday. I have the stock tall windshield I see over easily but in the cooler air I get a little teary in the eyes. No biggy but will likely get a Clearview shield of the same height or an inch or so smaller.
I am a Newbie here and was wondering if this group gets a discount from Clearview?
I negotiated a 10% off for my CVO group and the owner is a great guy and he might do the same for us. Let me know.
