ok I'm a little confused. I have a nuvi and it came with the cig lighter charger for the car, can I use that same charger on the bike and just plug it in the cig lighter for power on the bike? Why are you buying new plugs?

You're fine. I think the supposition is that you would have one hook-up for the cage and another for the bike.
Thanks for clearing that up for me christophgage, I just got this unit for Christmas and I love it. I have everything ready to go on the bike but have not plugged the power in. My buddy has one that he uses on his GL1800 he has been running that on our trips for the last 2 years not one issue even got cought in a storm works great. I keep reading that everyone is buying new plugs and wonderd why.
Yes you can use your iPhone as a GPS. I don't use mine because I don't like the fact that you have to take gloves off to use it and you can't save routes as far as I know. I have an old iPod Nano in my saddlebag. JMO.
I don't find the gloves a problem since I use my iphone for navigation mostly during the months when I wear my cutoff gloves. Also you can save routes that are generated by the navigation app (mine is Navigon). You can't however create a customized route and save that. Navigon also has an add-on that provides real time traffic which will provide a detour route.
Nuvi 760 here almost for 3 years...No issues even when it got wet.. "ZIPLOC" bag and a rubber band. Love it... I don't know that i will ever pay the price for the waterproof ones made for Bikes...As long as this one lasts i will use it....Even the Zumo battery after a while craps out. Mine is plugged in all the time so i don't worry about that...Plays through my radio and i hear it in my headset if i want it to...All are good choices in my opinion...I try not to use it unless i need it so it's off a lot. I read the map before i leave and try to keep the roads in my head...
