Strange fuel pump behavior, Throttle not responding,
I am having a serious problem and I'm at work with no service manual. First, the fuel pump on my 09 RK will start even before I kick the run switch to on (right hand grip)....weird. Now, when the bike starts, I get a check engine light and no throttle response. I can turn it off for a bit and then crank it back up and get throttle response.
I had a similar issue 2 weeks ago and the dealer said the code was for a throttle twist sensor, so it has been replaced....
P2101 EFI Motor Circuit Range Performance (Actuation Error)
P1511 EFI Power Management Mode
P2122 TGS1 Low/Open
Sounds like the wiring from the twist grip sensor, or the throttle body motor. I don't get the run switch either unless the switch is bad. I suppose it's back to the dealer. Let us know how you make out.
P2122 TGS1 Low/Open -> twist grip sensor problem. If it is the 2nd time you see it perhaps problem is not in the sensor, but in the wires from it to the ECU.
Perhaps P2101 and P1511 were generated by previous P2122. P1511 means bike is in power management mode (thus the symptoms you feel) cause there's a problem with the TGS/TPS system.
UPDATE: Just got the bike back today after having the throttle rewired. Worked fine for about 10 mins. Fueled it up heading to work with it and when I started it after fueling, same thing started happening.
Fuel pump fired before kill switch was on. When cranked, limited throttle response. (I'm starting to wonder of this is the "parade mode"), and the check engine light came on, but when I check for codes, it now says "no rsp" for the P codes...all others are none.
Already called the dealer and am taking it back in tomorrow morning for further troubleshooting. I just wanted to post it here so someone could respond, or someone could search and find this issue later on....thanks
