I've never heard of a plug in the left side muffler. I do know the exhaust gasses from both heads go down into a common chamber in the exhaust then the gasses push onward/outward. The right side is a straight shot out the back. The left has a few turns and longer distance. I think most of the exhaust goes out the right side because of the efficiency and momentum on that side.
If that common chamber wasn't there, with just two separate exhaust pipes, then you'd have the same amount of exhaust on both sides.
If you look into the right hand side, it appears to be a straight shot through, but when you look into the left hand side, it only goes about 6-8" in then it is blocked off.....????
Left hand side OEM muffler is more of a sound chamber and little flow. Right side is where 95% of the exhaust flows. This setup keeps back pressure up and TQ up. This set up is similar to Fuel Moto's dyno tuned mufflers, left side baffle different than right side.
Some people run Rush pipes, with 1.25" baffle and a larger one in the right side. While some folks run standard after market mufflers with same baffle diameter in both.
