We rode over to check it out last year. Weather sucked. The rally itself was ok. Its fairly new so they are just getting it going. Town was really open to it, so we felt pretty welcome. Not bad.
Used to be the Sandy Corley Run, an annual event and a great weekend. Somehow, somewhere things got all screwed up (like all good events do) and they changed the name and it splintered into two different events, one in June and one in July and only a few miles apart. Thats a day trip for me so I'll probably get over there.
we usually head over there every year for the hillclimb, then stay in saugatuk for the nite. There's some nice riding in the area and it's a 3hr boat ride to milwaukee from muskegon. But Jennifer(governor) says you gotta wear a helmet in michigan, don't forget..

I'm about 30 miles east of there. I go over every year.
It is growing. Pretty good showing of vendors and builders.
Hot Rod HD is a bunch of good people. It's where I bought
my bike. The hill climb is a lot of fun. Governor Grandholm is on her way
out, so maybe by this summer the helmet laws will change. She C-Blocked
the law change even after it passed the State House of Representatives.
i went the first year ..they had a big turnout with some good vendors, and bike builders and alot of food ....missed the second year..last year i thought it sucked...pretty good crowd , but nothing going on ...no bike builders, two cheap pakistan leather dealers and a couple riding glasses vendors and a guy selling windows for remodeling your house...know alot of guys that went and all were very disapointed....the ride up and home was the only good thing going on...its to bad , i think it had real potential, but died off.. i doubt ill go back, there are too many other good rallys going on that same weekend.

Iv'e been the last two years, not much to see at the rally itself, kinda ho' hum and um....boreing. The area does have nice riding along lakeshore drive north of Muskegon. The hill climb is a every other year thing and on Sunday only. This year, 2010 is the year for the hill climb.
I agree that last year was not as good as the previous two as far as vendors go. I suspect that is due more to the economy than the event organizers. Hopefully things will improve this year...the economy and weather included!
There will be a "Muskegon Bike Time Pre-Spring Bash" at Scotty's Lounge on Henry St. in Muskegon March 6th from 2:00 PM to 1:00 AM I think it's mainly a fund-raiser but it may also give people the opportunity to voice their comments to some of the planners.
Muskegon Bike Time has absolutely nothing to do with the Sandy Corley Memorial Run. The Corley Run is for Cancer benefit and is in June.
I agree that last year was a little ho-hum and that promoter has been replaced. This year promises to be better than ever, I know two guys that went to Daytona this year to schmooz and entice more vendors, they said that they were successful. The local dealer, Hot Rod Harley has free events planned for the whole weekend, including a free concert by Kenny Wayne Shepard. There are at least three bike shows throughout the weekend and a swap meet. There are numerous contests such as bikini, chaps, tats, and six pack abs, etc....
This is a pretty well rounded rally that is serious about growing, it is family oriented during the daytime and turns a little more adult at night.
Last year it attracted 30,000 bikes and over 80,000 people and the weather for this year is hot and dry.
Yes I happen to live in Muskegon and I am proud of the fact that our town is very biker friendly, more so than some of the bigger events that I have attended.
Hope to see lots of you there. Look me up, my bike is in my sig, pretty easy to spot.
