I am becoming a big fan of the Kobalt tools at Lowes. I'd check them out.

Plus 1 on Craftsman. I have the 3/8 INCH and LBS, and a 1/2 LBS all three on sale last Christmas was about 130.00 Good tools and came with storage cases.

Be Safe JIM

This is very simple as with all things in life......You get what you pay for.
You buy ****, you own ****.....

+1 on the Kobalt. But no torque wrenches at Lowes. At least not at the 2 in my immediate area. Harbor Freight as mentioned.

i bought a 3/8 drive torque wrench from harbor freight in january. "click-type". problem is, it doesn't work. no amount of torque, at even the lowest setting will cause it to "click". Its really more of a BREAKER BAR.
lost the receipt, so don't know if i can get my 20.00 back.
any harbor freight frequenters have any input?

Did you see about a possible swap out if you have a local store nearby?

It all depends on what you are going to do the most.If you are not good at feeling when a bolt is tight enough, get both in lb and ft lb wrenches.Otherwise start investing in Helicoils.

I have craftsman in/lb and ft/lb and both have worked fine for me. I guess it's a preference of name brand and money in your decision.

I'm not a mechanic, but with a 2001 FLHT I occasionally have to tighten a bolt now and again. Can you guys steer me toward a decent quality set at a reasonable price?
Just remember, you get what you pay for. I have 2 different torque wrenches. One is the less precise, large "click" type that I use for axle nuts ect, and the second wrench I bought from Precision Instrument for $285. I use that one for oil & transmission plugs, as well as any other types of nuts that would ruin my day if I snapped them off.
