I am gonna do my yearly maintenance here in a few weeks when it warms up and was going to change out the plugs this year. What are your'all recommendation on plugs? I put synthetic oil in'er last season and it sounded like a sewing machine. was gonna try a synthetic blend, any recommendations? Same with primary and tranny. What yah'all running. Thanks.
also, I got a Bassani Road Rage, what exhaust gasket work best? I heard some rumors on them, but dont remember what we best. Thanks.
You were doing good right up until you asked what oil people were using, it can go all to hell and back from that innocent little question. I was interested in oil choices too until I read the thousands of posts, and strong opinions about it. Now I am confused and need new glasses. Good luck!
I use the stock plugs in my bikes. as for oil, you will get alot of opinions and ideas from alot of people. I have always used reg harley 20w50 oil in all of my bikes. as far as the trans and primary, i use formula plus. the stock exhaust gaskets give the best seal
As for a syn blend, I hear the Harley Syn 3 is really a blend, not a full synthetic. Bel Ray is another co. offering a blend. I run the Syn 3, but have run Amsoil in the past, and am going back to it. The Harley is not cheap, and if I'm gonna spend that kinda $, may as well get the full syn at a cheaper $.
I changed out my stock plugs and wires to the SE high performance plugs and phat spark plug wires. I feel it gave me a little boost to my basically stage one build. I'm not sure why but I like SE products.
As far as oil, let's just say yes I use it..in the crankcase and primary and I use severe gear 75/140 in the tranny......I also use Autlolite #4164 plugs.
Yeah, i dont want everyones comments on the motor oil! LOL. I seen have seen them and read some of em. I was wondering about the syn. blend really and the sewing machine noise i have with the fully syn. Yeah harley oil is some no el cheapo by no means. I am really looking for opinions on the primary and tranny fluids.
I was thinking about getting the SE orange wires, but not sure i would like the look. What about plugs those new E3 plugs?
i also use the autolites 4164. you can buy 2 of them for less than the cost of 1 hd plug. change them out yearly, whether needed or not.
i use mobil 1 15/50 synthetic available in 5qt jug at walmart for $26.00. formula + in the primary (i may try atf this next time around), and royal purple 75/150 gear oil in the tranny.
