Yes, I've been looking for a light weight leather jacket and yes I could have bought a cheapo for around $100 but if I remember correctly, the USA made HD Jackets were top notch.
Yes I'm the sucker who paid $185 for the above jacket but I'm sure it will last me a long time and I like the look....
Why I posted this, your guess is as good as mine.
Srsly though... how did you stumble across a thread almost 13 years old with zero replies? You are the ONLY person that responded!

This forum has a few quirks. I haven't figured out how to get a notification when someone quotes my post. I get likes notifications if I view the full site but not on the mobile site.

My first leathers were either Brooks or Reeds (USA made) and I did buy a H-D California Highway Patrol jacket (on clearance) many years ago but it has gotten to be much too large for me but it's still hanging in the closet!
The last leather heavyweight riding jacket with a removable inner liner that I bought a couple of years ago was about $300 and it was not made in the USA but it is a very well made jacket and will probably be my last unless I decide to go with a textile model.
I've had two "faux leather" (as in fake) lightweight jackets that I've used for the last decade or so and they just started falling apart so they went in the garbage and I' m now using a light-to-medium weight leather along with my H-D cloth/mesh jacket from now until the fall riding season begins.
I was going through my "selection" of leather jackets and I found a black, medium-weight leather "NRA" jacket that fits me perfectly so I took it to the leather shop and had a US flag placed of the the logo and a similar patch done on my leather vest.
I have a hard time justifying to myself why I should spend a lot of cash on something that will basically either be rolled up in a saddlebag or in tour pack or hanging in the garage or in a closet during the off-riding season.
I remember back in '90 or '91 being in the H-D dealership clothing area and my wife had me try on a H-D "Willie G" fringe jacket which "fit me like a glove" ! In hindsight I wished that I had purchased it (she encouraged me to) but when when she told me that it was about $450 I suddenly suffered "sticker shock"!!!!
Fast forwarding about 20 years we met up with a couple that we share a lot of common interests with (including cars and H-D's) and I was shocked to find that he/they had matching "Willie G" fringe riding jackets!!!
