Default Performance Machine and Roland Sands AC Cover

I think I've found one the will fit. It's closed on the outside and perimeter and open on the backside. It's breathable so you can ride with it on if you have to, although I'm sure the intake would be somewhat restricted. It's sold by Wimmer Machine. See the link (SSRS1 in black):

The Harley rain sock isn't ideal for me. The Performance Machine (and Roland Sands) air cleaners (unlike SE , big sucker, etc) are open at the outside end as well as the perimeter - a venturi style air cleaner. I need a sock that covers the perimeter (like the HD) but the outside end too.

For those who are looking, I've now found one and ordered it from Outerwears Racing.

It's model number 20-2470. It has two prefilters (one for the perimeter and one for the end) that you can leave in place without restricting air flow. It was $26.00 (before shipping).

Thank you for researching this. I ordered a PM Super Gasser for my Limited and was having trouble finding the right rain sock. I will order one of these also. Thanks again for following up!!!

Do you have to remove the outer grill to put this on?

Just saw this thread, we carry the Roland Sands imprinted version for some time now. Fits both PM and Roland Sands air kits.

Yes you do, and that's the problem with it. Just ordered the RSD one, and realize you need to take it all apart to put the sock on...what's the point of that? You're riding along, looks like it's gonna rain, you need to just be able to throw something on there, and not have to disasemble the damn thing roadside!

Gonna return the RSD sock- maybe look into the Wimmer one.

I have a Big Sucker Stage II that I run from time to time on my scoot. I have had several open-element air cleaners through the years and have run them in the rain (hard rain, too) for miles and miles with no problems. The rain isn't gonna hurt the element a bit, and the little bit of water vapor your motor ingests will only serve to loosen some combustion chamber deposits, if anything. The only way water ingestion will harm a motor is if you submerge it while running and hydraulic the motor. So, if you run off the road and into the lake during a rainstorm, make sure you hit the kill switch before you bail. Rain socks are for RUBS.....

I called outerwears, and was told that they have made a custom slip on pre filter for the RSD/PM air cleaners- they confirmed that it fits over the entire assembly like a shower cap, so you don't need to take anything apart when you want to use it.

The custom part number is 100-2749. It costs a bit extra ($30.95), as it's custom made, but I think it's worth it for a little extra insurance in heavy rain and when washing the bike- I ordered one.

Good service from outerwears as well- very quick response to my email, and friendly on the phone.
