I just added a Perfomance Machine Super Gas air cleaner to my 09 Ultra. It draws air (Like the Big Sucker and others) from the outer perimeter through a K&N element, but it also draws air through the center (a/c design routes this air though the filter before letting it enter the intake). See the link:
So, what I have is a need for a breathable rain sock that covers the perimeter as well as the outer end. In case I can't avoid riding in rain, I don't want to suck water in and get my element all wet. I'm sure a soggy element won't be good for engine breathing.
Anyone have a source for an a/c rain cover that might work? Thanks for the help...
hd makes a new (screaming eagle i think) rain sock. It's round & looks like it made for the stage 1 air cleaner. So it may as well fit your pm air cleaner. I think it's under $25 bucks too. Just a thought. Good luck!
It seems to me, if you install an air cleaner to get more air and put some sort of rain cover on it would restrict the air flow. Especially if the engine is tuned for the air flow of the new filter.
Thanks for the helpful replies. I guess the wrap is close but I'd like something to cover the end too - if available. I don't see a rain cover on the PM site? Anybody have a link...
I also would not like to drive with the cover on, and I know it might affect performance, but I was considering those situations when the rain starts and you're on the road.
I didn't have any problem with the install, I didn't notice a fit issue but I didn't know to look for the indentations before seeing the posts on that. I'll disassemble this weekend just to check.

I do believe the HD one will work for you. It's a new item. I have one on my bike & is open on both ends.
