I just ordered an '07 RKC, my first dresser. I have ridden & toured extensively solo & two-up on my 91 springer which I bought new. I thought it high time to treat myself and Mrs. G to a more comfortable ride. We have used the stock Heritage seat for all this time.
I searched around here a bit, could not find anything on seat preferences except for a thread on Corbin. Has anybody got good or bad comments on the HD upgraded seats? I have heard that Mustang and others make a great product.
One other thing, I find the stock seating position to be 'way forward' and unnatural compared to my old softail. My guess is this sensation will disappear after a few miles, but all things considered, I guess I'd like to be seated back a bit. However, Mrs. G and I sat on an Electraglide Classic and found that the front to back space was very tight. We're big, but not ridiculously big and this was less room than my springer. Surely these bikes are big enough that these issues are solvable.
old greaser.your riding a different bike, and it will take some getting used to. Try putting on some miles bsfore you decide to get another seat. Lots of people here have bought sundowner seats from HD . My bike has one, cant beat it for the price.Seats are like pipes some like one over the others. Try a sundowner tallboy ,made for the taller rider. If you dont like the feel of it ,take it back to the dealer right away for a refund. welome to the forum!!!!!
My wife & I experienced a similar dilema. We've been riding baggers for years, and a one point she had a Hertiage. When we rode 2up on the Heritage, we had more room than on the bagger(s).
For us, the fix was a two step thing:
1) Musting seat
2) "Fix" the passneger backrest
Regarding #2. I took the backrest to a machinist buddy, and measurements (height and angle) from the Heritage backrest and asked him to make it just like the Heritage unit. A week later, he had leaned the backrest back (and re-inforced it) and extended the length by 2 or 3 inches. I used it just like that for several years on the FLHT and then on our 1st FLTR. Now it's on our 2nd FLTR, but I had it powedercoated black to match.
BOttom line.... Mrs. M is Happy and we BOTH have more room on the bike. I can send ya pics if ya like.
Also, Buttman's passenger (Mrs B?) rode with me at bike practice once and she immediately had to have one too. So now there are two....
Has anyone ever seen a comfort stitch two up seat they use on electraglides used on a road king custom? My wife and i ride two up and are looking at this seat. Would appreicate any feedback. Thanks
Do you like Ford or Chevy's / Blondes or Brunettes??? My point being, we are all different and this is a very subjective topic - if you do a search, you will find we all like different seats... Some love Mustang other love Corbin (I fall into the Corbin group) What does all this mean - you know the answer... good luck on your search.... If you buy a seat that does not work - get another {its only $$$} Nothing worse than a sore back after a long days ride just because of a bad seat...
