Default true duels/stock muff's

I have krome works mufflers. was very happy with sound (mellow not raspy at all) i put fullsac true dual kit to beat the heat & now these mufflers are too loud for my taste. not too bad at idle or cruise speed, but under a load or passing they get very loud. has anyone tried true duals with stock mufflers? if so Too quiet? poor perf.?
Thanks Lou

I am running true duals with stock mufflers, and it is fairly quiet, but performance is as good as the Samson slip ons I had installed. I did open the hole up in the plug a little bit and it sounds good now. I enjoy being able to hear the stereo and not waking the neighbors at 3:00 AM when I come home from work.

thanks for the info. one question, you said you opened the hole in the plug, is that the plug in the front of the muffler or the one in the back?
thanks, Lou

I opened up the one in the back, but not much, I didn't want it to sound tinny.

jerrybrunelle, I am doing the same thing today. I have V&H true duals and basic slash cut slip ons which are too loud for me. I am putting the stock muffs back on with the true duals and was going to bore the muffler bulkhead right out (1 1/4"). Maybe I will be defeating the purpose of getting quiet by doing this but I read somewhere else on this forum that it sounds good but still not too loud.

How big did you bore that hole at the back, and how much difference did it make?

Thanks.

Hey Lou; I tried just a hole and it didn't make any difference so I ended up drilling out the whole piece. A 1 1/8" hole saw works great. The left side was in further than the right so I had to dick around making an extension for my drill. The sound is OK. It's a fairly quiet rumble, and by no means loud. Not even close to the V&H basics I had on before. It barks a bit when you torq on it at low rpm after a shift. With the true duals you still get the stereo separation but it's just a whole lot quieter.

I would recommend this to anyone who wants just a bit more rumble than stock. It will be fine for all day touring. I haven't checked yet whether there's a PCIII map for true duals and stock mufflers, but it seems to run fine, no popping at all. I suppose it may be a bit on the rich side right now.

Thanks, Cowboy maybe i'll go ahead and drill it out like you did. I just was concerned about it being too loud when you get on it or under a load.
