Talking ignition coil test advice

2001FLHT CARB MODEL, Stopped firing without warning. The ignition coil testing across the secondary(where plug wires go) is testing 11,500 ohms.
The manual states it should be between 5500 & 7500 ohms. Could this be my problem? Would this keep it from firing, having to high of a reading? Any advice appreciated.
I can't seem to get any codes, could the coil be bad and not show a code??

Default coil values

When testing the coil on your bike, those values are if you put your test leads on:
1. The "B" pin of the 4-pin connector and
2. One at a time, the spark plug wire post.
Problem I'm having is when I do that I only get about 3,300 ohms. Went to the dealer and picked up a brand new one and its ohms out the same, maybe 100 higher. But no where near the 5K to 7K in the book.
I'd be interested in hearing if anyone else see's similar readings.

Now this is for an EFI model. not carb. but the secondary pin locations are the same.

Hello HedgeHog77 I know it’s been 16 years since your post, but I’m dealing with this same issue. Did you come any solid conclusions?

He hasn't visited this site in 9 years. I'd suggest seding him a PM which will land in his email inbox that he designated when he registered, so if he's still alive, he might see your email.

Some times you might get luck and the guy subscribeed with an email notification. I do that on sites I am not active on

My 2001 coil has been replaced twice. First one ohmed fine and was intermittent

You should have voltage at middle terminal if I remember right
White black should have 12 volts to ignition module. This comes from kill switch.

There are ways to bypass tssm, which is bank angle sensor
They don't make it anymore. I may bypass mine before it fails.

Does anything replace the bank angle sensor in the newer machines? I haven't seen one, at least in the customary location, in my 23 FLHP. The turn signals cancel reliably, so there must be something that tells the system when the turn is completed.

Olde bikes it merged with tsm. With new bcm technology I don't know.
