Now Toyota is looking into a fix that involves an override to apply brakes or something if the trottle by wire system fails. I don't know about you, but on a motorcycle, I wouldn't want my fate decided by a computer system failure and another system trying to apply brakes. just my $0.02.
Just because the media puts something in print doesn't mean its reliable information. Where did the info concerning 'acceleration complaints' come from, and more importantly, what was the outcome of the complaints? Were they verified? Where is the follow-up to the initial complaints? Also,Toyota looking into adding safeguards in their ecm's could just be a PR thing, now that the media is all over them. Of course, we all know that the media has never caused any type of chain of reactions based on speculation

You should like the TBW. You can actually re-set the idle with out ever even getting off the bike. Mine got high after i hit a ditch and dumped it, but was able to get back to normal by turning on the ignition and snapping it back three times.

I love it, looks great without the throttle cables and the cruise control is seamless. there is zero lag when you let go of the throttle.

No... Toyota CLAIMS that is what the problem is.

There are alot of automotive engineers that are saying that Toyota's information is full of crap and that there is a problem with the ECU. One of the biggest being that, with the exception of the Prius, none of the Toyota models have a "brake over-rides gas" configuration. This is a standard item in GM, Chrysler, Honda, Ford, Nissan, and just about everyone else's ECUs.

No worries, as soon as they unionize their US plants the problem will be solved.
BTW, your Throttle By Wire is a MANDATORY FEDERAL REQUIREMENT for licensing approval for the manufacturer on your Hog, so you know it's good for you!

I've got TBW on my RG and it works ok. I do notice a slight lag when the throttle is twisted sharply, however. If I had the option, which I don't, I would have cables.

So are these engineers actual Toyota engineers that are making the claims? Just wondering how credible the info is. The actual video I saw about it showed Toyota fixing the problem, which was the pedal mechanism.

Do you remember when electric start was nonsense? Nowdays kick only would rule out 75% of the folks riding.

Do you really think that electric vrs kick starting is in the same league as unintended acceleration or lack of brakes issues? If I can't kick start a bike at least it won't kill me.
