I know I wouldn't want to wait, but I wouldn't want to waste the remaining tread either. But, who are we kidding here? We throw away perfectly good parts all the time -- nothing wrong with that original air cleaner I just took off, the stock seat is in perfect condition, when I trade out the handle bars, there will be nothing wrong with them.
If you don't have a buddy that's in need of the tires, put them in your local classifieds/Craigs List. Somebody needs those tires, and you're never going to put them back on. Do the same thing with them that you did with the other OE parts you took off.
Put an ad on Craigs List saying you'll do tire changes for $20.00 per and you'll have people knocking down your door, allowing you to save your new tires 'till you need them, yet play with your new tire changer toy as much as you want !!!
Problem solved.
I know how you feel Dawg, I ordered the new E3's and installed the rear because the old 402 didn't have many miles left. Even though my front 402 has plenty of tread left, I'm dying to put the new E3 on the front now. I thought you had already installed your's with the DynaBeads???
I did already install mine with the beads and using my homemade tire changer. This was for the benefit of someone else
I'm all about the ride. Don't know what tires you are ridin' now but if the E3's are an upgrade and gonna give you better performance, I'd do it now otherwise if the ride doesn't improve with the change I'd wear the old ones out.
I was having this conversation with myself 2 days ago. Got a great deal via the Cyclegear 2 hr sale a few weeks ago on an Avon Venom front tire. I already had replaced the rear 402 with a Venom 3 months ago but I wanted to get a few more miles out of the POS Dunslop front before I changed it. It still had 4/32 of tread depth but after 26000 miles I couldn't wait in longer and since I had the front calipers off for new brake pads I thought I might aswell replace the tire now,so I did. I just wonder how many miles you could get out of a front 402---judging by tread depth remaing I think I could have gone another 20,000 but any tire compound hard enough to get more than 35000 miles is in my opinion too hard of a tire for a motorcyle
Dawg, you got an 08 bike with original tires that will go another season?
Dude step away from the shop and internet and get out and ride my man. I just had to put a rear tire on a bike I bought last May.
If ya got new tires ya have to use them. They don't get any better just sitting there in the closet. Then I would keep the 1 season left tires in case I need to use a spare at some point. Since I have the changer it wouldn't be any extra cost. Easy decision when you examine everything closely.
