Have you ever heard of someone getting pinstripes put on his bike and when the bike was washed the pinstripes simply washed off? Heard that today! How could someone take someone's money like that! You'd think they use paint that doesn't wash off and better yet have clear coat put over top like I did.
A lot of pinstripes can be wiped off with oven cleaner, I'm guessing other cleaners or pressure wash would take them off as well.
It's cheaper and easier to do usually they do very little prep work. Not a bad option if your like changing occasionally or if the next owner's wife's name is different than yours.
Yup everyone wants to Wax the **** out of their bikes. Well then when they go to have someone Pinstripe it they forget to mention that and with all these Weekend roller kits out there everyone thinks they know what they are doing.
If you want them to stay then Prep work and a good strip is needed and a Clear just finishes off a Job that will last for years.
Had a bike pinstriped, all but the front fairing lasted for ever...the front fairing lost some of the striping, but I had a reputable artist and he repaired it with no charge, and said if any did it again he would repair for no charge as long as I owned the bike....never did though.
