According to this thread, I may have the old style in my '07.
Should I upgrade to the new one?
I replace mine because I didn't like the amount of wear on the shoe. I've always felt better about spending money to replace worn parts even though the wear was probably normal and not extreme.
When I ordered the 39929-06A, I received a 39929-06B.
Hey Faast Ed; Do you happen to have the # of the spring you purchased at Ace Hardware? It would give me a good starting point. The amount of tension is as important as the length. Thanks.......
I know this is an older thread but thought I would revive it to get some more feedback on the soho tensioner,I installed one on my 07 rg and it wouldn't tension up at all so I tore it apart again and inspected the unit and what I found was that the check ball was sticking on the seat you could stick a small screw driver in and pop it off the seat but once you put pressure on the ball which is what happens with the hydraulic action it would stick on the seat again,so with the ball sticking on the seat there was no way for the unit to get oil in the cylinder so the hydraulics could work properly.
What I did was take the check ball and spring out,I cut a cue tip in half and put it in a drill and put some metal polish on it and polished up the tapered seat until the ball didn't stick anymore,I then put it back together and it seems to be working fine now but I won't trust it until spring comes and I am able to put some miles on it to see if it will keep working.
Any body with an update on this product..? Had one sitting on the shelf for 6 month,s wondering if I should or not..
Hey Larry, it was nice meeting you and the wife last week.
Here's what I posted on another thread just today.
I have had nothing but trouble with the wedge 2 in my 2008 SG. I have tried repairing the one I have per there instruction, but it did not work. The primary is louder than ever. I have requested a replacement or refund. You will find others here that have experienced the same quality control problem as I have.
