Non-compensated sprocket works just fine in a bike withthe IDS. dawg runs one and many others without issues. EVO industries makes a 30 tooth sprocket to drop your gearing a bit, easier take offs.

Why is that?

Torquey little sportys dont have a comp or IDS!

Hundreds of thousands of bikes out there with belt drives that do not have a comp or IDS!

The IDS was designed to stop the whining from customers! Just like the helical 5th gears!

i just got the se compensator, my 08 has the ids, and with the se compensator, the starter sure does seem to be more of a direct connection rather than feeling like something is loose in the primary. i'm glad i had it done during the new 103 build. when it was hot and muggy out, and the motor was hot too, the starter was having a bit of a struggle at times.

My 2007 without the IDS was a POS. The ****** and rattle in the drive train below 2500 rpm was really bad. If I had to go back to no IDS I would sell the bike. SE compensator stopped the starter clunk and rough idle. I have never ridden a Sportster that was as bad as my stock 07.

Putting on an SE compensator changed the way my bike started for the better and made takeoffs much smoother, highly recommended. It seems no two people here on the Forums has experienced the same conditions on starting but, there are plenty that have switched to the SE comp and felt a difference.

I had the IDS installed on my 07 and it cured the surging under 30 MPH. My tranny never was real noisy before that and 5th is even quieter now, worth the money to me.

I just bought an 07 RG and have heard some of the noises that I have been reading about. Much different than my old Fatboy. From what I understand the IDS looks to be an easy DIY. Anyone installed it themselves?
