I just bought an 07 RG and have heard some of the noises that I have been reading about. Much different than my old Fatboy. From what I understand the IDS looks to be an easy DIY. Anyone installed it themselves?
Yes the IDS is an easy DIY mod, especially if you have a lift table with a drop out back deck. Be sure to have the bearings pressed in by the dealer or someone that has the proper equipment and knowledge to that part of the job.

Ok next question will an 08(or newer i'd like to get the fat rear 09) rear wheel assembly(sprocket to disk) fit on an 07?
Pretty sure the wheel with the integrated IDS from an 08 should work on your 07.
Doubt and 09 would work without some serious modification. Frames are different.

Don't mean to split hairs but the 08 IDS was not integrated.
Its the same as the one bought off the shelf for 07's but with a different bearing and spacer I believe.
09..definitely integrated into the rim and will not fit an 07 without some serious mods like you said.
I put a 08 IDS on my 07 RK that a friend gave me had to change the bearing to fit the 1 inch 07 axle 08 is 25mm and order two spacers from Zanotti's. Much smoother but stiil rattles
