J&M 7.25 Speaker install HELP!

Just got my speaker from Dr. V twin. Should the adapter and the speaker grill sit flush against one another?? The wires coming off of the mid and tweeter are epoxied and stick out further in diameter than the adapter ring , not allowing it to set flush!?! if i tighten the way it is, looks like its going to pinch the wires between the grill and adapter.The notches in the grill where the wire goes thru is fine. Anyone else have this problem? Any help is much appreciated.

Mine were the same way. But with a little work of moving the wirers where they are glued by pushing them around I was able to get it sit flush.

I installed them 2 days ago, no issues at all..I also added the light rings...those are awesome..

If I remember correctly, one of them has a slot in it. I ran the wires through the slot. It may be between the speaker and adapter.
