What's a "shout jumber"? Sounds like some kind of Australian marsupial. Using the fairing mount antenna has got to be better than the alternative. I used the regular HD low mount antenna re-location bracket with a short CB truckstop antenna and 18' of regular RG58 cable with an adapter to mate it to the CB module, then used the internal antenna for the FM/AM/WB. Took a lot of cable stringing to run it from the fairing to the rear mount antenna!! Would have been much simpler to use the J&M but they had not come out with them then. I do know that when i checked the power output, it transmits 9 watts. Have not figured out that one yet as the max power as allowed by FCC is 5 watts. Got the module off ebay from canada so it may have been different up there or someone messed with it before i got it. My power meter is right. I have the push to talk button on Road Glide and got a throat mount mic only off ebay.
The stock CB antenna doesn't talk and hear very far. I can't imagine a CB antenna mounted in the fairing would be good for much more than group riding as already mentioned.

During my own personal testing of the J&M FLEXPOWER in-fairing CB antenna, on a given day, back to back with identical atmospheric conditions, the tall rear stock Harley antennas would transmit to 1.6 miles, the FLEXPOWER in-fairing antenna would transmit to 1.1 miles ,,,,
this distance is going to vary every single day depending upon atmospheric conditions and whether or not you are in an urban or rural environment, but for comparison purposes, this is what you can expect ,,,,

Good info, I always wondered what the range was. thanks.
Have one for the J&M CB on my Street glide. Works fine and actually receives better than 2 of my friends Ultras with stock antennas. Transmits just fine for group ride and up to ~1 mile. Not sure about further than that cause I never needed it further.
