what the heck is the 45 degree twist?

If you can twist 45 degrees in the belt then the tention is said to be good.. Watch for tight spots though!

I had a belt leave me on the side of the road with my bourget, was a easy fix just ended up costing me over $300 for the tow and belt. I was riding up a hill, I was coasting then hit the gas...the belt launched up 20-30' according to my riding buddy.. I was looking for 2nd gear in thought that I missed it and was in N

Well I got my work week out of the way and she's ready for the new belt. I found one at an indy shop a mile away for $180. Have to go pick it up in the morning.

I try to give the local indy shops my $$$. EC Harley had one for $202 and the other indy shops didn't have one. I called performance Chopper and they had it in stock for $180. Im also trying to save a few bucks since the wife is out of work and we need to keep our budget in order.

Got it all back together with a new Gates belt. Got a nice ride in this afternoon. It took a lot longer to change out then I had figured. I did take my time and everything went well. it's an easy job just time consuming. Both pulleys looked good and no rough spots or anything out of the ordinary. A week without my scoot was no fun. I ride it everyday normally. My truck sucks the gas down big time.

HOLY JESUS LORD! That's a lot of teardown just for a belt! Why is the swingarm dropped? (I don't have a dyna; that's why I ask)

You have to drop the swing arm on a touring bike or try to snake it between the frame and the swing arm where the rubber mount is. It only takes 10 minutes to drop the swing arm. Belt replacement is no fun. It's done and I have no leaks so Im happy.
