I'm thinking about installing either Rineharts or Bub 7's on my SG. I know the crossover is supposed to help low end torque and hp. But isnt the crossver almost the same as the factory pipes? I like the look of the true duals without the crossover but I dont want to lose all my low end performance. What do you guys think?
True duals are the better way to go from what I've experienced but when Harley changed to the 2 into 1 and back to 2 I have to say I'm not a big fan of the Harley version but that will change as soon as I can to the V&H crossover. But all in all its more of a personnal preferance unless your lookin for hp,then go 2 into 1.
We had a discussion about true duals a while ago on here. While it is common to say they lose torque and midrange nobody actually proved it for certain! I have an S&S 107 motor which exceeds their spec with my TD system and shows no loss of performance. I think the jury is still out on that one, I just wish it was not repeated as if it is true!
If you like TDs go for them and see what you get. With a decent setup job on a dyno you may be very happy with them.
I say either go true dual or 2 into 1. Screw that crossover mess.
The V&H crossover is crap. I've seen 3 guys here buy them and sell them shortly thereafter.
I personally didn't notice any difference when I went from stock to Bub 7's True Dual on the low end. If you're drag racing from stop light to stop light or if you feel that numbers on a chart really impact the performance, then maybe you'll notice a difference. I was looking for sound quality and aestetics when I went this route. I also changed air cleaners and installed a PCIII when I swapped the pipes. Very pleased!
I droped the gear ratio 3.25:1 better low end, then lost the cross-over and cats, now high end seems better. she'll scoot but it's an 06 I need that 6th gear.
I absolutely loved my Bub7 True Duals, and if it werent for the motor i just built and my obsession to try to squeeze every drop of power out of it, i would still be running these pipes for the rest of the bikes life and then prob put them on my next. The sound is awesome, the pipes themselves are beautifully crafted. prob the best muffler/encap setup going IMO, and I def felt a difference in performance when I went to them, but I also added a heavybreather and SEST at the same time. NOW, i know this will sound like a shameless plug, but I do have a Bub7 TD system for sale right now in the classifieds, that I am selling to get my new Fatcat. I have either the entire system, just the mufflers, or the Bub headers and Rhinehart mufflers. I will make you a sweet deal if you are interested. I have a few offers, but so far a little to low for me..I am not that desperate. PM me if interested. Goodluck with whatever you choose.
Ohhh SH*t...just realized you are from bergen county..I am from bergen county also...We can definately work something out if you choose to go this way. check out my threads of my build on here and get in touch with me.
