I'm not going to say anything new, and you've already made up your mind, but I'm going to say it anyway. I love the versatility of the RKC. I do take the windshield off occasionally, and I love it. I haven't yet got a fairing, but it's in the plans.
As for the "comfort" of the stock seat, I guess everything's relative. That stock RK seat couldn't be replaced too soon for me.
Have owned both a 04 RK and a 09 SG. Straight off the floor the RK was more comfortable for me because the SG stock seat just sucks. Once the seat is changed, I like the SG better for long rides. I like having the guages up where you can see them without looking down and love having tunes when I ride.
Hi yall, new here.....I myself and stuck between the SG and the RK..I was dead set on the SG but now I'm liking the versatility aspect of the RK along with the price differential of roughly 2k less. Only thing I'm concerned about is the seat height with the RK. I'm 5'9 & I sat on a 2010 and I was on the ***** of my feet. Is there a legitimate do-it-all low profile seat out there to cure this issue for me?

worst first post... ever. JK like your avatar. there are probably a few choices for seat replacements. i think my problem with the stock RK seat is that it spreads your thighs apart too much (too wide). that seems to kill my reach. You fix that and take a little height off the seat and your problem is fixed. Harley makes an increased reach seat for the touring class that claims to do both. otherwise the seat itself is pretty comfortable while riding.
Yeah I did bring it pretty weak I suppose for my first post.....oh well, anyways the width of the stock harley seats kill me everytime...I have a 29 inseam and I know If I could find a skinnier seat I'd be golden.
For comfort, I would suggest looking at a Sundowner seat for the Road King, or possibly a Corbin or Mustang. It will make an even greater difference for your passenger than for the rider. If you get the Sundowner and find that it's too wide (as I think you may) I think Mean City can modify the seat for you to make it narrower up front.
