My wife was the victim of a drive by painting in her brand new BMW........The detail shop wiped it down with a rubbing alcohol/water mix and re-waxed, a 250.00 bill to their Insurance co. That is what liability homeowners is for.
I have some overspray on my bike from someone spray painting in the garage (that's another story so let's not go there)... anyway, the bike paint is fine and looks fine, but is rough to the touch. Has anyone cleaned off any slight overspray like this? If so... how, and any hints would be helpful. THANKS!
Go to Auto Zone and look for CLAY MAGIC. There's a Gumby looking guy on the box. This is the original patented formula developed in Japan. The kit as I recall is less than $20. Forget Mothers and all the other brands. They don't hold a candle to Clay Magic. Most other clay bars have the consistency of well, clay. They will break up when wet and don't work as well to remove over spray. Clay Magic feels more like the old Silly Putty you played with as a kid.
I've used Clay Magic to remove polyurethane clear coat over spray from plexi-glass, painted sheet metal and chrome. It bugs me that I don't understand how over spray can stand up to MEK and other solvents yet spraying it with soapy water and lightly wiping a damn piece of Silly Putty
will transfer the over spray to the putty. This stuff flat out works! Buy it and you'll be very happy. When your done store it in a zip lock bag and use it 5 years from now. It'll still work just as well. Wish I would have invented this stuff, I'd be rich.
Just got done cleaning some clear-coat overspray off of a bud's Standard. Used 3M General Purpose Adhesive Cleaner on a clean rag with light rubbing. The over spray wiped right off and it didn't affect his add-on pin striping either - but we were damn careful on the stripes. Smooth as a baby's behind now.
My 2010 FLHX came from the factory with overspray last fall, looked like sealer or primer on the right side of the tank, the guy out back came out with a bar of clay and some spray polish, coulple of light strokes back and forth and no more overspray, not a mark left on it as it was Black and I can see a flea terd at 100ft when it comes to imperfections on black. I used to work at a body shop and cringed when body work needed to happen on a black vehicle. I was sold went right to AutoZone and got the meguiars kit on back up if I ever need again.
