To day I went out to pull my RKCustom out of the garage and tried to fire her up after Winter storage, no go and Lights flashing on the alarm system. The Batteries in my security fob were dead as a door nail. A heads up for anyone with a 07 or 08 Harley don't forget to put new batteries in your security alarm fob every other year they are cheep. I just though a few of you may need to do it.

Getting things ready for a multi-state Spring ride. My older bro will be on my [new to me] '07 RKC. I'm new to these style fobs; if you remove the battery, does the fob go stupid? Or do you have a minute or two to install the new battery? Happen to know the battery number? Thanks.
I've already had to replace the battery in one of my fob for my '09 Ultra Classic. Went for a 125 mile ride last weekend, stopped for lunch, retuned to the scooter and the security system would not allow me to start the bike. The battery I had just replaced was also no good. Fortunately, there was a Wal-Mart store 4 blocks down the road. I needed the exercise anyhow. I guess I should think about carrying both fobs just in case.

There is an over ride system where you enter a 5 digit code to start the bike when FOB is dead or lost.

nothing to worry about. this is just my opinion, but instead of unneccessarily replacing batteries, i just wait for them to die then replace. learn to use the override code, and you'll have no problems. the battery in my 07 lasted for over 3 years.
or you could buy a 'spare' battery, keep it on your bike, then when its time to change it, its already half dead from sitting so long.
Agree. I bought my 2007 pre-owned and was recently 5 hours from home on a beach trip and it didn't want to start after getting gas one night. Not a good feeling but I figured out it was just the battery in my security fob.
I was waiting for the guy who pushed his bike 6 miles only to read on here the next day that there is an override code. You can get 20 of those batteries for $5 on ebay. I used 10 of them 2 yrs ago on all my crap at one time and they are all still working strong.

Do you have to reprogram the FOB when battery goes dead or when replacing battery?
