Default Droid Integration

Hi All,

New, to me, Harley owner and HD Forum member here...

I know the Droid has been talked about a bit in the Forums but I have a specific question that I can't seem to find an answer to.

All I want to do is integrate my Droid with my 2007 Ultra Classic's built in communication system. I realize that I can plug an audio cable from the Droid into the AUX port on the radio but that only gives me audio. I want to be able to USE the phone by talking into the mike without some unrelated bluetooth setup. Is this possible? Is anyone out there doing this? If so, how so?

TIA....

I don't believe that's possible without some sort of seperate bluetooth connection/interface. The input jack on the head unit is audio only.

I think you would need an interface like Kennedy or AutoComm between the droid and the HD head unit so you would have some type of mic in for the droid

talk to it in what way?

I hooked up my droid, using the motorola car mount (with magnet).

was riding, listening to slacker radio thru aux. music cut out, and the phone ringing came thru the speakers - what the hell, hit answer, and lo and behold the caller was coming thru the speakers, and i could talk back - man was i suprised. the caller said they could hear me fine. i was doing about 30 at the time.

Wow, maybe the built in mic stays active then. I think the OP was looking for a way to integrate the HD headset on his Ultra to be able to use it to converse on the phone though...

UCRider ,,,,,

go here and look at what J&M currently manufactures to link the Motorola Droid to the Gold Wing ((oops, sorry for saying that here)) ,,,, http://www.jmcorp.com/ProductDetail....MXB-GL18&PF=32 ,,,,,

in about two weeks we will have the EXACT same thing, only designed and manufactured specifically for the Harley Ultra audio system ,,,,,, except that on the unit for the Harley ONLY the driver will be able to actually talk on the phone, thru the helmet mounted headset ,,,,, everything else will be the same ,,,,

I am sorry that we are so slow,,,, but we are cranking this new stuff out as fast as we can ,,,

Thanks for all your input guys!

I like the looks of the AutoComm unit and the J&M, whenever it comes out.

JMJOHN, I assume the Harley unit will be comparably priced to the Wing unit? Do you need any beta testers for your Harley unit? I'd love to run it through it's paces and help get the kinks out while saving myself a few bucks of course!

Later....

JMJOHN,

So the unit plugs into the aux input of the head unit; does it then get paired via bluetooth with the Droid similar to a Bluetooth headset?

TIA....

UC Ryder ,,,

that is correct ,,, once the J&M unit is installed you simply Bluetooth link to the Droid and everything from the Droid will be directed into the AUX input on the HK audio system ,,,,

and if you get a phone call ,,, the mike signals from the driver's headset will be automatically directed to the cell phone during the conversion, along with the factory HK intercom system ,,,,,
