The welded nut thing works well for me but before I did that, I just used a regular wrench.

Just be careful doing it.

On my last bike I watched the mechanic adjust the clutch. He put a socket and extension on the nut and gave it a hard quick shot with the palm of his hand to loosen the nut. He made the adjustment and gave it another hard fast tap with the palm of his hand to tighten it.

An offset wrench works great for me.

Vice grips on a deep socket also works.

I just use a spark plug socket and an Allen wrench it's pretty simple there is video on the forum shows in detail how to was very helpful .

Not the lock nut. The large clutch hub nut is though. Sounds like you're doing something wrong.
