Default Power Commander Map Choice

I have a 2000 FLHPI with Max Flow mufflers on a true dual system and what appears to be an upgraded air fliter (K&N style). The website for the mufflers states you do not have to re-map the ECM with these pipes. The bike already has a PCIII installed because open pipes were previously installed. When I look through the PC map choices of course the muffler brand is not listed. These mufflers are not stock, but a little more free flowing than stock. What map should I select for the PCIII? Or should I unplug the PC and run the stock map? Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Pick a map on the list you think is close...go ride for a while, see if it runs well. If not, pick another map and retry. That's what I do since it's so easy to change maps.

What Joe Squid said.
After warming the bike up plug in the pc and check the throttle position while idling. If it does not say Zero, reset it so it does. If it runs good but backfires on decel, throw some fuel (try 15-20%) in the zero column from 2000-5000 rpm. You can take fuel out to stop backfiring on the decel also, but I have had much better luck adding it. You may want to take 5% fuel out of the midrange to clean up the gas mileage.
Nothing beats a proper tune on a dyno, though.

canned maps are what they are... get a good tune on a dyno at a competent shop

Thanks for the input. What does a dyno run usually cost?

depends on the shop... 250-400 for a tune job is the going rate around here.
