Default Maintenance

Hey guys, I need some feedback. I have a 2006 Street Glide with 9,000 miles. I am coming up on the 4 year anniversy of the purchase of my Street Glide. The last service was completed by the dealer at 5,000 miles in the fall 2007 at which time Mobil 1 Synthetic was used in all required holes. Should I wait till 10,000 miles to complete the service or should I do it now since the last service was back in 2007? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

I would not wait. Personally I would change the oil at least once a year anyway. If the bike hasn't had a service since 2007, I would definitely do a full 5K type service before riding it this year. GOod for the bike and good for your safety as well. A lot of the service items are to be sure the bike is in good shape. I would recommend getting a manual and doing it yourself.

I would go ahead and do the service becasue the way you rack up the miles no telling when you will get to 10k

Check the age and wear on tires too. They will dry rot before they wear out.

I do a full service in the spring, usually under 5,000 miles from the last service, then continue with the regular 5,000 mile service intervals

If it was something other than Mobile 1 or any other good synthetic I'd recommend doing the service now but syn's don't degrade (5 yrs once bottle is opened) at the rate dino oil does ( 1 year once bottle is opened) so you should be fine until you hit 10k miles as long as it's within the next couple of years.

I would go over the bike carefully though. Check your battery connections, belt, and all the other standard visual service inspections.

I would wait but as said earlier go over the bike to make sure everything is good first.
