so far I am using the stock windshield, I am 5"10" and look over not through in normal seating position I think I could go a couple of inches shorter and still have the wind blocked any more than that and you may as well not have one on at all. I do alot of highway riding so i'm sticking with the stock for now. also above 70 - 75 mph I start to get buffeting but it comes from below not over the top.

I am 5'10" and have installed Heritage handlebars. My back bothered me until I changed the bars. Part# 56623-99

Same here except that I am 5' 9". No problem with the stock bars.

I am 6'1" and the windshield is just fine. Just enough air flow for me at 70+ too and no head buffeting. I wish the bars came back to me about an inch or 2............Have longer legs but not so long arms. I'm surprised on a cruiser that they don't have the bars a bit towards the driver.

First of all, ride it for awhile and see how the standard height shield works for you. You should be looking over the top edge, maybe 2 " over it. The shorter HD shield is for looks only and the tall one is pretty flimsy. Take a look at Clearview Shields.........I have one of these (GT Medium, smoked, no vent) and I love it. Worth the wait and the dollars. Do a "search" on this site and you'll find some postings, some mine, on the subject. And they have a website to look at.
I'm 5'9" but tall from the waist up, if that makes any sense. I changed the handlebar to #56709-93T which I believe is the chrome Wide Glide unit. The little fairing pocket liners are a nice thing....keeps stuff from rattling in there. I can go on about engine upgrades, etc.
You'll love the bike........especially if you add lowers, backrest and detachable sissy bar and luggage rack. Hope I helped out.

I am 5'8" and changed my stock bars to Road King Custom ones. I also changed my seat to a Corbin two-up seat, with a backrest! I am in heaven!

On my 2nd RG now....

Both have/had WideGlide Bars (stock cables, wiring, & hoses work fine), Mustang seat, & stock windshield. I recently received a medium, smoked, non-vented ClearView (like Paul mentioned a post or two above) but I have not installed it yet.

Other than bars, & possibly hiway pegs, I'd say ride it & see what ya think. It just might be perfect as-is!

Congrats!!! What color?

I am running the Clearview Short GT windshield (1" closer and 2" shorter than stock) and love the shield. I am using it in conjunction witht he stock seat , rider backrest and the Heritage bars. This is the best set up for me at 5' 10".

I think the bacrest was the best mod I have done. I thought I needed new bars but the backrest cured my back problems. Tempted to put a backrest on the Sporty but ... the fashion police, you know?
