I was able to change the front pads with out removing the caliper on an 08 ultra when I had a bolt that was stuck and did not have the tools (and spare bolt) to fix that problem. Just remove the cover screen and the screw that pins the pads in, Spread the caliper to loosen the assembly, and then slip the pads up and out. This did enable me to get back on the road until the repair tools and parts could be purchased and installed.

I know this is an older post, but thanks for the link. I had a tough time getting my brakes out of the caliper. The retaining pin would not pull out, had to lightly file the groove the clip was inside of, it had a raised edge and the pin would not pull out. That led me to go hunting here to make sure I was doing it right......many thanks for this post being accurate!

I changed both front and rear tires now abs light stays on and brakes go to nothing then pump up but dont stay pumped
