Best way to stop the BS with your dealer, ask him to put it in writing. Then wait for all the stuttering to stop, then politely walk out. You can also mumble, "I thought so" as you walk out.
I have an update on this story. I was at work today and I got a call from the stealer. He tells me that he is the service manager. He wants to know why I am choosing to leave amsoil in the bike after being advised to take it out. I at this point let him have it. I tell him he is full of sh@# and that i will bring in the proof for him to see. I print out some warr. stuff and head to the stealer. I also printed out some of your responses for this idiot to read LOL anyway he didn't know what to say. He still tried to tell me I was wrong. I know deep down I embarassed him in front of the other employees that just smiled and walked away. Thanks for all the input ................
I've been using Amsoil syn. for the last four years, and think it's a great motor oil.
As for the trans, and chain case,I use Red Line heavy shock and Harley gear oil.
A lot of guys are using 20-50 in all three holes, but I'am not sold on that idea.
USING AMSOIL WILL NOT EFFECT WARRANTY
I agree with everyone about how this particular stealer could be so stupid, while talking out of his A$$! I too, have been using Amsoil in my RKC and now my RG. I am also an Amsoil Dealer! There have been many articles written about Amsoil and HD Warranty. The bottomline is that HD cannot void your warranty if you use Amsoil!
It's funny that this Stealer can talk out of their A$$ and still trying to sell you their Syn3 crap! By the way, which stealer are we talking about and where are they located? I love to send them an email!
I was at my dealership yesterday to buy a derby cover. I saw the HD synthetic oil and asked the parts guy about it. He said that all he uses in his bike is Amsoil for his engine, primary, and trans. I asked him if they sold Amsoil and he said "Yep, $9.50 per quart".
[color=#FF0033]Next time they ask if you use synthetic, just say yes, I use Syn3. Lie, like they do! No way that donkey or the service donkey can tell.
It doesnt matter what oil you use, as long as it meets the required standards that are printed in your owners manual, And almost every quality oil out there will, now when it comes to your primary just be sure its suitable for wet clutch, all oils are not and some can cause clutch damage. With all the mods a lot of the guys on here do that WILL void a warranty( PCIII,exhaust, motor work and so on), the oil would be the least of my worries.
I logged over 40,000 miles on my '92 FLHS with Mobil 1 (not the V-twin) and just before I sold it last June I had the base gaskets replaced because they had started to weep. The indie mechanic asked when I had the top end redone, and I told him never, just switched to Mobil 1 at 13,000 miles. He told me it looked brand new with the honing crosshatching still visible. I never ran syn in the primary as I switched to a belt at around the same time I switched to Mobil 1. This bike now has over 55,000 miles on it and the new owner is a happy camper. I am a true believer in the high quality synthetics, though I do not believe Syn3 is in that group.
