amsoil and warranty
Under this federal law: The main point of interest is that the Act says warranty coverage may not be conditioned upon the use of only the vehicle manufacturer's parts unless the parts are provided free of charge. In other words, use of a non-carmaker product should not void your warranty unless it caused the problem.
Warranty coverage can be denied only if the aftermarket part caused the malfunction or damage for which warranty coverage is sought.
See this link.
If AMSOIL caused leaks, engine seizures and the like:
1) Everybody here would warn everbody else
2) Same on every other motorcycle/car forum on the Internet - On which--by the way--AMSOIL enjoys a fairly stellar reputation
3) They'd be out of business
When I went for an oil filter at the HD Dealer, they asked if I needed Oil. I said "nope". He asked what I was using, I told him Mobile 1 V-Twin, he asked why not Syn3, I told him because it's crap. Test after test posted on public forums shows that it's crap and I won't put it in my bike. He said Syn3 is all he used in his, and I told him "good luck with that", and off I went.
Bottom line is the guy you spoke to is preying on ignorance. Show them you have a clue with facts to back it up and they become more agreeable.

There is a law on the books called the Magnuson Moss Warranty Act, that states no MOCO can tell you what brand of oil to use. Also if the MOCO does require a certain oil brand then they must offer it for free! Tell your dealer that you want free oil when they say Amsoil will void your warranty!
I just bought an '07 EG and the dealer told me that I can NOT use mobil1 75w-90 in my transmission. I should use the HD+1 or something like that.
