I screwed up while adjusting my clutch today and have to remove the side trans cover to set one or more of the ***** back into their proper positions. Don't ask!!!
Bikes got about 5000 miles on it, can I get away with using the same cover gasket??
I bet you didn't use the "little dab of grease on the ball" trick. As for the gasket, the worse that can happen is you have a leak and then you'll have to replace it.
Whadaya mean don't ask. You just set yourself up with that remark. That's a cry for help and you really do wanna confess. You just need us to prod you a bit.

This is one of the few times the "little trick" mentioned in the Service Manual really is worthwhile. The dab of grease is like glue and it you had the ***** in the slots before putting in the snap ring, they should have stayed put. I had my cover off today putting in the easier pull clutch ramps. If the gasket was new, it should be reusable.
None of the above....Lets put it this way, I hope that's what the problem is...
While trying to get the cable adjusted properly, I went a little to far and the connector separated. Playing around to get it together again I must have moved the cable towards the transmission to far and what I'm thinking, knocked one of the ***** out of place. I got the adjustment correct inside the derby cover and when I tried to adjust the cable, I cannot get the cable to push the clutch lever back into its perch.
If anyone thinks it could be something else, please speak up before I pull the trans cover tomorrow.....
Friend, there ain't no way a ball is gonna get out of place if you assembled it properly and the snap ring is seated.
Reread the manual....It advises that when you adjust inside the derby, that you snap the lever several times to seat the ***** in the ramps....Take that a step farther and snap the lever several times as you adjust the cable outer jacket length, then recheck the derby adjustment....It will all fall into place if you finger it correctly.
