Having indy put elite 3's on the bagger. he is telling me i got a bad front tire as he cant get the vibration out of it. any one had such a problem with any dunlops. he tells me it is not uncommon.

Very interesting. This is the first negative feedback I think I've seen on the E3's on this forum. Seems that everybody loves these tires! I've got Dunlop 407's on my '09 and want to move to the new American Elites when they're released later this year, so I'll be eager to hear what folks say and whether there are growing quality issues at Dunlop.

Tell him to balance the wheel first, then mount the tire to the new heavy spot (it's not always the valve stem). Then try balancing the tire/wheel & see if the vibration goes away. After that you *may* have a defective tire.......everybody makes mistakes. Dunlop will probably make it good.

Before I had my road glide I had a goldwing that the dealer put 5 sets of E-3`s on before he got ones that would balance .Just my .02 ...

I know this might sound crazy, but I put E3's on my 08 UC and the front bead was hard to get set. I put the tire on the rim and couldn't get it to inflate properly with my little nail gun compressor. I took it to a local tire store. He had a hard time as well, but finnally got it inflated. I took it home and put it on the bike. When I spun the tire to make sure it was ok, it wobbled. I thought...oh sh$t, I got a bad tire. After checking, I noticed the bead didn't look right. I had to pump it to almost 90 lbs before it popped and seated right. Was perfect then.

He says Dunlop will warranty it. going to try another tire

When I owned my shop here in Reno, we sold around 300-400 tires a year, from all manufacturers. Ive seen many new tires with bad construction, couldnt balance, sidewall seperation, etc....Take one tire off that needed 4 oz to balance & toss another one on that only needed 1/2 oz. Generally, wire wheels need more weight than a cast wheel.

If you go through enough of them, defects can be found from all parts manufacturers.
