if you take the fairing off you better check your fairing brackets, all 4 of them. There is a good chance you have a broken one. The vibration causes damage to your radio, shuts it down. I used Iron cross and had great luck. MOCO can stick those brackets! there crap.
Just to let everyone know what I have found out..... I checked all of the connections on the radio and amp and speakers and all seemed to be good. I hooked up new speakers and no fix. I eliminatedthe amp and speakers and hooked up new speakers straight from the head unit and nothing. Called the stealership and they told me to try two things....1) Turn the radio off by the power switch on the radio and wait five minutes before turning it back on. No fix 2) Unhook the battery and wait 20 minutes and try it again. No fix..They then told me to bring it in this weekend and more than likely the head unit is bad and would be replaced with a refurbished unit under warranty.

4 radios out of an 09...not time for a new radio, time for a new dealer. It's not the radio, it's a bike issue killing the radio. Seen this to many times to mention.
I have a 2008 Street Glide that has an AM/FM/CD/WB stereo. I was riding the bike today listening to the radio. I got home pulled into the driveway and shut the bike off. Ten minutes later I started the bike back up and the radio display and all the controls work but there is NO sound at all. I can turn it to full volume and nothing. Not even a hiss, static or any sound. I tried turning the ignition to the assy position and I tried to turn just the radio off and back on and still nothing. Thank You in advance.
I know this is an old post but did you find out what the problem was? My Roadglide is having the same problem.

Eject the cd if there is one, set radio to fm, turn off ign switch, hold down any two soft keys 1-6, turn ign on to acc, continue holding until radio goes into diagnostic mode.
If dtc is present, it'll show up with a brief description.
A common failure is code b2017 LF speaker open, bad news is that it's most likely a problem inside the head unit
The same situation happen to me on my SG. All the functions worked on the head unit, but no sound. I thought it was the HD's amplifier. I bypass the amplifier and the head unit worked. I was lucky since a friend had another HD's amplifier he took off his bike and replaced it with a more powerful aftermarket amplifier. Hooked up the second HD's amplifier and I get the same crap. All functions working on the head unit, but no sound. Someone told me how to perform a self diagnostics test on the radio and it came up with " U1302-Infotainment Bus Off Error". Sent the head unit to Iron Cross Audio and they fix the problem. It turned out the "Infotainment Bus" in the head unit had shorted out and it was not reading the amplifier. I regards to re-flash the HU, I would s/w Iron Cross Audio first. I called the dealer before I s/w Iron Cross Audio and they told me I needed to re flash the HU. I s/w Iron Cross audio and they told me this was not the problem in my situation. Iron Cross Audio was correct.
if its under warranty, take it in to the dealership. if not, Go buy an aftermarket install kit and a marine head unit. basically any aftermarket unit will blow the stock HU away in terms of quality and functionality
