Cool

Ok fellas, here is the prognosis, they changed the compensator of course to the se 40274-08, they found a mark on the inner primary bearing, changed it, retourqed and checked everything for rubbing, went out for a test ride, and would you believe it, the funny intermittent tapping feeling in the floorboards is still there,****! anyway I dont feel good about going any further with this, other than maybe swapping oils, or things of that nature, they did tell me that the factory rep will be at the dealer tommorrow and they are going to have him ride it, my goal now is, when I go and pick it up tommorrow, Im going to speak to the rep and have noted and atteched to my vin number that this issue is unresolved, so when its out of warranty and the monster shows its ugly face maybe Ill have a leg to stand on, but in the mean time Im going to ride the **** out of it with my new se compensator LOL haha go figure...any insight you guys may have would be great...take care ride safe and enjoy, Ill keep you all posted of any changes in all this.

They did the front tire change out and that helped the low speed wobble. So with only 8000 miles on the bike, I have bought the front motor mounts and it is in and indy shop right now having the mounts changed. I should have it back Thursday, so I will check in again with the results.
Okay new motor mounts, and the vibe seems maybe? a little better, but not much. The indy, checked the drive belt tension, new primary fluid and the compensator looks good, new transmission fluild, and an oil change shows no metal in the oil. So now I am at a loss. Harley shows absolutely no intention of addressing the problem. So I guess we wait and see what falls off on down the road.

Thumbs up

Allright fellas, here is my outcome on the funny tapping feeling in my floorboards, bike was at the dealer 10 days, partly because of the Easter Holiday, anyway, just about the whole dealer and the Harley field rep rode my bike and acknowlegded that there is a wierd type vibe. I was there one day and seen them putting on the s/e compensator, they checked everyhting, they took the pcv off, and put the bike to its stock config, no help, swapped wheels with another new bike, no help, the harley rep and the dealer assured me that if this shows its ugly face later on after warranty they would stand behind their product, so last Saturday I picked the bike up and rode home but I did not feel the vibe, rode again Sunday and I did not feel the vibe, I will keep riding it like I stole it, maybe it was the compensator, who knows, but I am satisfied with everything they did, they tried and I dont feel nothing now, In any case I got the 5k, 10k, 25k, check for free, all oils changed also. we will see..

I have an 09 Ultra with what sounds like the same kind of vibration that appeared after a wheel upgrade, center stand addition, reflashing of the ECM. Just a question, what does the "PCV off" mean?

Thanks for the updates! I'm taking mine in in two weeks for my 15,000 mile check and will tell them about it then. I think I'm also going to print this whole thread and take it with me for them to read.

I have the bike at the second dealer right now trying to find out what the issue is. The first dealer said "normal" Harley. The second has had it for over a week now. They are changing the intake gasket because they seem to think it was leaking. I don't think thats the issue. I beleive its a mount and or the engine and trans is out of line.

Well I still haven’t had any luck finding out what is causing it. Anyone come up with anything yet?

Two dealers, different towns worked on it. They loosened the motor mounts, rode it, then re-torqued the mounts. Still the vibration, especially through the floorboards. The same factory rep looked at two different times at two different dealers. Result: normal vibration. When I first noticed the vibration July 09, I took it to the dealer who didn't do the wheel replacement, etc. He adjust final drive belt, rode it and then said, "That wasn't it, and my feet are still buzzing. I did adjust the muffler rubber mounts, you know where the chrome piece slides in then you bolt it to the mufflers. Took a drill bit and reamed out the rubber mount while it was still in it's holder until the chrome piece slid easily through the rubber. Added a rubber washer beneath the lock washer on top and put a rubber grommet between the chrome piece and the muffler. I used a slightly longer bolt. The vibration is a little less. I'm thinking that the exhaust system could get bound up after it's dropped for wheel removal/installation. I'm sure you've seen baggers at idle and it seems like the muffler mount is not tight. That's really what I'm looking for as a vibration source. That and maybe the endless updates to the ECM.

Well guys, my '09 started the knocking/vibration on my floorboards at about 5,000 miles and between 2900 to maybe 3400 rpm. I haven't consulted with a dealer yet but decided to do some research here first. I guess I'm not alone but I definitely don't see a common fix popping up either.... Please reply if you think you might be on to something here.

Thanks
