Pick a reputable builder such as GMR, Hillside, Head Quarters and I'm sure there are others. Talk to them about what you want. I used GMR and couldnt be happier with my build. If you do the work yourself, you'll save a bunch, otherwise plan on spending 5-8 grand. Good luck and keep us posted...this is a hot topic, you'll probably get lots of reply's.
To start with you will need a 4 3/8th stroke crank (your stock 88" is 4.00") and you will need a set of cylinders and pistons of 4.125" bore. Lots of options from there. Most 117" are going to be using a larger than stock throttle body and injectors as well. Something to think about unless you happen to have a carb'd '06.
Like the rpevious poster recommends, talk to a builder that can give you a complete package of parts that compliment each other. T-Man, Headquarters, Hillside, etc.
Crank 1200
case work 500
cams(geardrive) 700-1000
cyls and pistons 1200
heads 800-3000
roller rockers 500
pushrods 100
lifters 125
tts tuner 385
t/body and injectors 1000
tune 3-600
exhaust and airclear, vary alot and you need a good one to get the power you pay for. i chose Hillside for all my machining/heads. I did all the assembly work and Jds cycleworks did the world class tune.
Well I myself just recently got a 117ci just over 2wks ago and today i went riding and AAA needless to say brought me home.
Now i am sure some of the guys on here will have a good laugh at me but hey if you brag about the good, you also have to be man enough to brag about the bad.
What these guys advice they have given you they are absolutely correct.I just got home from on the side of the highway for 2hrs and in those 2 hrs i have gone from talking with friends on what went wrong to argueing with the builder I would do what these guys say do,trust me.
Now for me what is going to happen from here i don't know,my bike was running fine and the oil light came on and the lifters start getting louder and louder so i shut the bike off. My builder is 3 hrs away from me so ain't like he is around the corner so trust me and take if from someone who just got it done and that is do your homework just like these guys said.

Sounds like a real bummer! And you put so much faith into your builder too. Maybe your builder is going to give you another parts list, you know, the one with all the parts your going to need to replace. Feel free to post it here, as you never really answered the questions regarding the build, but maybe we're getting one now.
What kind of warranty is he offering you, or is the rebuild all on you?

That does suck. And he said here that he picked the bike up on 3/28 (one week ago today). Hope it has more than a 1 (or 2 week depending on which version of the story is being told) warranty.

na, I'm guessing what will happen is that he'll send the bike back to his builder and demand his bike be put back they way it was before the build and all his money refunded. And that's exactly what his builder will do.
Come on guys, don't let the troll hijack this thread.
And to Mark MDPC - the guy asked "how much" he can expect to sink into this project. In over 300 posts on your thread, you've yet to address this after being asked a ton of times. Show some class and walk away from this thread.
Well the reason i never said anything before when everybody was asking me was because i wanted to wait and see if i run into any problems first. My problem i have right now is he is 3 hrs away from me,when i talked to him over the phone about what happend lets just say that the conversation didn't go to well. I am just a firm believer that when you pay your money things shouldn't just happen because they are parts so i will leave it at that so to speak.
I talked to some friends and they seem to think its my oil pump but i just don't understand why when the bike has only 8000 miles on it. The builder even suggested that it sound like the oil pump, this is so frustrating but i hope fulldraw00 have better luck then i did.
The cost if you get someone to do it for you will be around $6k to as high as $12k so shop around. Also to i would add if you get a warranty keep in mind that if you have no problem with traveling in case something goes wrong then you are ok,but if that is a issue for you then you might want to invest in getting AAA RV PREMIER which take your bike 300 miles for free so that is a good thing to have if you decide to use someone in that mile range from you.
