after much study on the 2 into 1's, i chose the vance & hines 2 into 1 pro pipe, for a few reasons. quality of the welds, quality of the chrome plating, price, and sound. but the main reason i wanted the 2 into 1 was for the increased torque, which this newer designed pipe delivers in spades. after considering the fatcat, thunderheader, and v&h, the v&h won the contest for me. the new design has very long primary tubes, promoting great low rpm torque, but it does not sacrifice power anywhere throughout the band. i do not like the tomato can welded on to the back of the muffler like the thunderheader, and it's a bit loud for my tastes. the fatcat, was my first thought when i considered a 2 into 1, but after visiting with the tuner and service manager on this issue, we all three agreed that the vance & hines pro pipe was the right choice. the fit and finish are great. to do it again, this is the pipe i'd use, the pro pipe 2 into 1.
On my 2009 Road Glide I've got the 2" black ceramic RB LSR 2-1 which they matched up to my S&S build of 106" Big Bore kit, 570G cams and 89cc ported & polished heads.
I absolutely love the performance and sound without it being too loud.
Have not yet gotten around to dyno it but the entire set up performs beyond what I had expected. The bike runs like a "scalded dog" and not sure if I could be any happier without going really bigger.
Don't overlook the Supertrapp. It's fairly quiet, at least in relation to some of the others mentioned here, and makes good low to mid range power. You can fine tune the pipe for torque or hp as well. I'm very happy with mine.
