I WAS SHOCKED TODAY !!
And isn't it amazeing how it's always some FNG who see's some old hand drop his bike, yea right!! I hate to bust yur bubble but there are many times more NEW riders rideing without a license than there are ol bikers without a license!!
I've had a MC license since 1969 and I love to tell some new fish I ain't got no license, just to watch em walk arround horrorified telling everyone I ain't got no license. So who should give a crap if you got a license??
I got mine in 1969. The written test was the exact same test given to cars. The driveing test was go get your bike and ride it upto the lady at the curb. Pull up the drive to the road, look both ways and make a left turn onto the road shift to second, make a left turn hand signal, down shift and turn in the other drive back to the lady and park. Total driveng 100 yards!!! BIG WHOOOPPPPIIIIEEEE I'm legle, I got a license ain't you all so relived!!! And this was in TENNESSEE!!
Now a REALITY check for ya. GO TAKE the MC test on your big baggers! Can you pass it on an Ultra yea,and you can easily fail it on a big bagger too.
And FIY I have taken the MSF course and the Experienced riders MSF class too. Do I endorse them, yea they are good classes, but NOONE fails them either. And the MFS course I took out of 12 students 2 should not have passed and 2 were preaty weak. So lets not automatically give the motorcycle training graduates an automatic I feel great with you rideing right behind me either!!.
Or you could go and practice somewhere and then get some MC licensed friend to ride your bike over to the testing station for you!! Of course you could ride your bike over to the testing station yourself, but If you fail YOU will not ride the bike home. So now your looking for some licensed friend to get your bike home. . Or you ride the bike there and get asked by the tester who rode your bike there for you and maybe get the bike held till some MC licensed friend comes to your rescue. And if your just getting into rideing you may not know anyone who rides now. Or if your getting back into rideing you may not know any riders right now well enough to want to let them ride your bike.
So you see it's not quite as cut an dried as some of you seem to think.
Geewhiz if you just got to run your nose into someones license record then get involved in stopping Revolked licensed cage drivers, that ought to keep you busy!!
Doesn't matter how good a rider you think you are....or how many years you ridin.......it's the law.
Why is it people feel the need to be combative about being properly lic.'d?
Granted, many guys that have ridin for ump-teen years w/o a lic, ride pretty damn well. But others don't.
Most everyone can learn something from the safety course..beginner or advanced.
Lose the attitude and play by the rules!
WASN'T TELLIN ANYONE WHAT TO DO !!! I said I was shocked at all the people who have ridden for many years with out a lisence, My instructor is a long time ROAD KING rider very experienced and honest said that he would have trouble passing the test on his ROAD KING ! And I seen a few so called experts yesterday knocking cones over left and right, because they were close minded and thought they had nothing to learn, after eating some humble pie they hung out with us beginners and started to be part of the group and we had a lot more fun.

Tj
Now as to inspection tags, I've never bothered to get one on any bike.
Aren't you being kinda hard on the newbie? I too find it incredible that someone would ride without a license. I got my permit, bought my bike and two weeeks later got my license. If I get stopped, no worry, My insurance company knows I'm riding with a license and by passing the test, I have demonstrated to the state I can at least control my bike within a cetain range of situations. I stayed on a buddy until he finally went and got his after riding 3 years without a license. Why, because I'd hate to be riding out of state with him and have hime get pulled or meet a licnese chack and then have him ruin everybodies trip because he was too lazy or too stupid or just didn't care enoough to pass the test. Trust me, they're not that hard to pass. If you can legitimately control your bike you can pass them. If you can't pass it, you probably don't need to be driving anyway.
I'm glad you got yours and get some humor in telling folks you don't have one. But ask yourself this...What's the point? Does it make you something special in their eyes? Probably not. Does it make you a renegade? Nope ...just a scofflaw (look it up)
Just my.02 from a licensed rider
