Thinking of buying a trailer. Can you haul an Ultra Classic on a 5X8 Trailer or does it take a 5X10. I would think a 5X10. And has anyone pulled a 5X10 enclosed with a GMC Acadia or other crossover? Just starting to look at trailers. Thanks
I bought an enclosed V-nose Trailer last year. Wanting to keep my cost down and not buy more than I needed, I looked at 5X8 and 5X10 The 5X8 was too small for my UC. The 5X10 would work but getting down beside the bike in the trailer was tight. I ended up buying a 6X10 Carry-On at Trailers for less in Newnan Ga. It fit's perfect and is really light to pull. I pull it with my 08 F150 you see in my Avatar pic. It' drop's my gas mileage about 3 MPG when towing with bike and gear loaded. I don't have pics to show but it has room in the nose to hangup clothes and enough room down side of the bike to tie down stuff if you want. I paid 3,100.00 with tax. I just bought my wife a 2009 Dyna Lowrider. I now need a trailer for two bikes. If interested send me a PM. I have pics of it in my avatar. or I can send you some. you can't see in these pics, but it has a side door too.
I bought a 5'x10' utility trailer with 15" tires and pull it with a Hyundai Sante Fe with no trouble. For the $1200 vs. $3000+ for an enclosed trailer, you may want to look into that type of trailer.
If your looking at a open trailer, I bought a Big Tex 5 x 9 with drop gate.
The bike fits perfect on it and it tracks behind your car well.
Model #: 19SL

I use a 5x10 v-nose for my street glide. Fro me it's a good size. Not a lot of room on the side but enough to get around the bike. Plent of empty space in nose and back or any ancillary stuff. Don't think I would go any smaller, especially since I didn't find much price difference between the 8 and the 10.
Big questions are how far, how often and in what type of weather will you be towing in? What other uses will you have for the trailer?
5x8 is a very small enclosed trailer. I would think you could fit a UC in it but it will be tight and I wouldn't want to do it often.
6x10 is the smallest enclosed trailer I would even consider owning and IMO a 7x14 would be much more useful.
Open trailers are easier to tow and you can get by with a smaller trailer because you can walk along side of it to tie the bike down.
This is what I have been using for about 9 years and I have pulled with a lot of different vehicles.
I have rescued several UC from I-94 and while it is a tight fit, you can get them in. I have used it for RK - RG - Dyna - Fatboys . . . . they do make other sizes and they are a quality built unit.

I pull a 6X10 with 2 quads behind a Ford Edge. Does fine if you keep it realistic. Don't think 80 MPH across the tundra is a great idea.
I thought that the Ultra, and SG's wheel base were almost exactly 8' long already? And the ULTRA CLASSIC has the trunk and I thought it sticks over the back tire a little? I gotta think that you had to have at least the 10' long. I am looking at 6x10s and 6x12s myself. I really wanted a 7x14 or 16 to haul two bikes if I needed to. But can't justify the difference in price really. And IF the wife does start riding, it won't be another bagger I doubt. So if she gets on a Softail or something it should fit still.
I DID find an older 6x16 which is a weird size and two bikes would fit in that I bet. (Staggered just a bit)
