I'll remind you folks that my sis got her shovel totaled at a light from behind - this BAL is a good idea, IMO. (she's ok, now rides a $22k shovel)
Me, I added license plate lights in the holes from the removed 'schoolbus' turn signals:

Before I consider a BAL bulb, is the running light on it a regular lumen?

I installed the led bulb the OP posted about over a month ago. It is brighter than the stock bulb and works just fine. There is no question that BAL makes the most blinding tail lights, but I'm having trouble with the price on those.

I have the BAL-1R and only recently installed it; but, have taken some group rides and received numerous comments on its brightness and flash pattern. A couple of guys have ordered their own.

As for price, anybody with a King tour pak that doesn't have lights would find that the BAL is a very competitive product for adding lights to the rear of their bike compared to the tour pak light kits HD offers.

Besides, HD's LED tail lights in the P&A book are about $179. Still stop and look in my rear views with the bike in gear and an escape path ready.

After reading the posts, I went down to a local Harley dealer and they had the BAL on display. I played with it a while and bought the basic BAL-1R. Put it on this morning. Took a couple of minutes to get the hang of changing the light intensity and brake flash pattern with the magnet, but it went on easy, looks stock, and the flashing should really get people's attention. I was going to get the Harley run/turn kit and change out my yellow rear turn signals to red. With the BAL, I'll leave them yellow. The new light is plenty bright all by itself.

On this site:

I found this light: GEN-20-R-1157EN for about $33 plus shipping. I'm not buying a $430 taillight if they come INSTALL it for me! Good reviews on this one.-20-R-1157

I guess I will have to make my tail brighter, I was riding behind a guy that had the flashing brake setup one day and it really works, Every time he hit the brake my eyes were drawn to the flash, I like that Idea. Is this LED flash insert much brighter than the stock incandescent bulb Quadancer?

I agree, this kit REALLY helps.
But due to an accident, my kit IS for sale. Is the base kit, I do NOT have the larger bulb, BUT, the lense change DOES make a difference !
Message me with a reasonable offer, plus shipping.

I also have more parts for sale, off my FLHTUCI, BUT, I do not have enough posts, as yet, to post them proper.
Message me as to what I have for sale, plz.
