Default ape hanger problem

I put my apes on a few months ago. I have ridden a little over 1800 mi with them and love them, but i can't seem to get them tight enough they will move back and fourth. I torqed them down and they still move I am afraid to over tighten them and brake a bolt.

do you have a one piece top riser clamp? if not you can get one. all so with that you can drill a hole in it and thread the hole to put a set screw through it.

One piece clamp will help - You can also cut a piece out of an aluminum can and wrap it around.

I see you have an '08 SG, so you already have the one piece top clamp. I would also use polyurethane riser bushings, if you haven't already. Next, get some grip tape from a skateboard shop (it's the sandpaper tape they put on top on their boards) and cut 1" x 3-4" and tape around your bars (on the knurled part at the clamp). Last, tighten the clamp down. Screw the torque rating...tighten the clamp down good. Just make sure you don't strip or snap your bolts. Your bars will not move, even if your pushing 120lbs of tq.

Poly bushings and the 1 piece clamp are key. When I installed my 16's on my Dyna I upgraded to the poly bushings (already had the 1 piece clamp) and they are rock solid.
