Default Needing it a little lower

Question...

I just sold my '97 Ultra for the new '10 Limited. But I'm a short guy, and due to the fact they changed the frame and all...well, I went with the low profile shocks and the reach seat. I opted not to lower the front end though, and now I'm wondering if that would have helped to lower the bike a bit more.

Any suggestions would help, cause I'd like to get it another 1" or so lower.

Thanks

I bought my bike in Dec (06 Ultra) the previous owner was also at a height disadvantage so he lowered the bike 2 inches front and back, I'm in the process off putting it back to stock, the bike bottoms very hard when going over what I think is a normal bump in the road. My 2 cents. Good luck.

You might try riding with cowboy boots before you lower your scooter any more. Except for the "stockman" style, most have a fairly high heel and will make it easier for you to reach the ground. I can tell a difference when I ride without mine.

Daver45,

I lowered the rear of my 09 SG first, then the front. Lowering the front did make a difference for me.

I also modified my seat so it wasn't as wide.

A C&C Sport Tour seat will get you that inch.

I thought the reach seat moved you forward, not lower. I put the new lowered seat that HD came out with on my 2010 EGC and it made a world of difference. I also am a firm believer in if you lower the rear you should also lower the front.

Harley Quote

ReachŽ Seat

Reach forward position seats are designed to move riders with shorter inseam closer to the controls and to bring the legs about 1" closer together so that feet rest firmly on the pavement. The scooped bucket-shape saddle is enhanced with added back support padding. Seat can be equipped with optional rider backrest for added support and comfort.

Since I dropped the rear within a week of getting the bike I didn't really notice the change it made.
A few weeks later I brought the front down to match the rear, right away I noticed an improvement in handling. Especially during slow cornering.

Looks like I am a believer too.

Thanks to all who answered back. I found one of the dealerships had an Ultra on the floor, which had been lowered frnt and rear and the seat. By lowereing the front end it does make a difference, so I went ahead and made the apt for the frnt end to be lowered. Look forward to having it done!

You guys take care and ride safe!
