Default Gas Tank

Could somebody give me some quick intructions on removing the tank on my 09 Ultra? I want to run a radio aux cable all the way to the back luggage compartment. I don't know if I need to take it all the way off, but I at least need to lift it up so I can get a cable through that big wire sleeve under the tank..

Thanks.

Just loosen the the trim on top of the tank and you can tilt it to one side and easily run a wire under it. I did it when I wired my amp. Two screws, one in the front and one at the back. To get to the one in the back you will have to remove the seat. Remove the gas cap also!

Invest in a service manual! It's the best $60.00 you can spend on your scooter!
It will cover all of your DIY needs.
It has step-by-step instructions for your project.

be sure to get as much fuel out of the tank as you can first. a full tank is quite heavy and the sloshing can have a mind of its own.

Really all you have to do is take the trim off the top and that will allow the tank to move from side to side. I would think it would take more then that.. Ya, I will run it almost empty, then do it.. A service manual is a great idea.. I will have to pick me up one of those..

You misunderstood, the point is you do not need to remove the tank to run a wire to the back of the bike. Sounds like the manual is the way to go.....good luck!
